Costas Iordanou is currently working on his Ph.D. in collaboration with Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and and TU Berlin, under the ERC ResolutioNet project. For the first four years of his Ph.D., he was working with Telefonica I + D, Barcelona, Spain. His research interest focuses on measuring the extent of targeted advertising taking place on the wired and wireless web, establishing causality between observed targeted advertisements and past browsing behaviour, and developing tools and obfuscation techniques for preserving one’s privacy in view of the revealed targeted advertisement methods following the crowdsource approach.
He received his B.Sc. in Computer Engineering and Informatics (2013) from Cyprus University of Technology and M.Sc. in Computer Engineering and Informatics (2014) from the same university. In 2015, he also received his second M.Sc. in Telematic Engineering from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
As part of his Ph.D. studies, he worked on the design and implementation of two crowdsourced web-based distributed systems, eyeWnder - a new Real Time Web Advertisement Analyser and $heriff - a browser extension for detecting price discrimination in e-commerce.
